HOLE #17 A beautiful, but long par four, measuring 500+ yards from the back tee. The first thing you notice is the gaping natural sand area that runs the entire length of the left side. That, coupled with the shape of the fairway, makes a fade the preferred shot shape from the tee. Do not panic if you get in the natural sand area, it is actually quite easy to hit from. It is usually quite firm, so you will normally get a good lie. Just choke down one inch on your club, play the ball back in your stance, and hit an extra club. The second half of this hole plays uphill into the prevailing wind, which you may not be able to feel from the fairway. You will want to factor in both of these items when making your club selection for your second shot. Because of its length, this hole is a difficult par four, and many good golfers will make bogey.
